More from C2E2: an overview with a nice story about Amanda
Zechs of THE OUTHOUSE weighs in with a candid assessment of last weekend's C2E2 expo that includes an anecdote that illustrates Amanda Conner's basic character. Head here to peep it. By the way, Zechs, I like the way you write!Amanda Conner talks 'Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre' with Comic Vine

More on 'The Monolith' at Newsarama
As previously noted, the rights to the DC Comics series THE MONOLITH have reverted to its creators — among whom can be counted Paperfilms' Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray — and the latest on that can be read over at NEWSARAMA. The bottom line is that if you missed it during the series' 2004-2005 twelve-issue run, now's your chance to check it out. (I'm embarrassed to admit that I missed it at the time but due to my lifelong fascination with the myths and legends of world cultures and religions, I'm intrigued to see how a modern tale based on the Golem, the most famous example of which would be the Golem of Prague, works. That said, I'm also curious to know how a Golem works without the required אמת on its forehead to animate it...Or maybe it's one of those Golem that's activated by parchments placed in its mouth? Whatever the case, I'll have my answers soon enough, gawdammit!)

'The Art of Amanda Conner'— release date correction
UPDATE: The previously announced release date of IDW's THE ART OF AMANDA CONNER book turns out to have been a mis-quote. It will not be out tomorrow, April 18th, but will apparently be released in stores on April 25th. We apologize for any inconvenience or annoyance that error may have caused, so please refrain from pelting us with rocks, feces — human or otherwise — and/or rotting garbage. Nonetheless, you can still pre-order it here and trust me when I tell you it's worth all the waiting!

Namco Bandai's 'Rapid Thunder' a “crazier version of James Bond” with Jimmy Palmiotti at the helm
This just in: Namco Bandai is reviving the classic 1980's brawler arcade game ROLLING THUNDER as the re-imagined web comic RAPID THUNDER, with Jimmy Palmiotti at the writing helm. Described as “crazier version of James Bond,” the full lowdown on the project can be read in detail at SHOGUN GAMER.More from the floor of C2E2
The firsthand accounts from C2E2 keep popping up and there's a particularly fun one to be had over at BLEEDING COOL. While covering the many aspects of the show, writer Paul G. describes an encounter with Paperfilms' Jimmy Palmiotti and Paul Mounts, and notes an amusing exchange between himself and Jimmy in regard to a certain storyline from the now cult-classic run on POWER GIRL that he co-scripted with Justin Gray (and featuring art by Amanda Conner). That bit is found under the header "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing," so head here to read it for yourself.
A fun C2E2 blogger's photo safari
It may not be the same as actually finding oneself in attendance, but it's always fun to peep folks' online photo safaris from the conventions and shows they visit. A good case in point on this is the latest entry on cartoonist Mark Anderson's ANDERTOONS blog, where he visually chronicles the sights at this past weekend's C2E2 show in Chicago and cites our Amanda Conner as "the person I most wanted to meet." Along with a great shot of the lovely and talented A.C. (and the clearly-marked end of her signing line, as seen at left), Mark also takes us on a tour of the expo's floor and perfectly conveys the magic that keeps us returning to conventions year after year. Click here to absorb the eye-candy!
'Before Watchmen' art montage at New Frontiersman site
In the wake of the DC Comics BEFORE WATCHMEN panel at this past weekend's C2E2 show, the digital comics news forums have begun latching onto the first released bit of interior art released from the project. Cannily fueling the fans' appetites by providing a mere crumb of visual information, DC has assembled a montage piece featuring representative artwork from all of the minis involved in the series and I have to admit that it all looks rather good. Of direct interest to this blog's readers is of course the participation of our Amanda Conner as the artist and co-writer (with the renowned Darwyn Cooke) on SILK SPECTRE. A.C.'s rendering of an adolescent Laurie Juspeczyk, the future second generation Silk Spectre, wistfully lamenting her lack of "assets" in the mirror as she models what appear to be her mother's crime-fighting togs, can be seen in the lower righthand corner. Unfortunately, what you see here is about as large of an image as you're going to get for now, so further patience is required. (I took this document, cropped it to isolate Amanda's art and hoped it would open up to a somewhat larger scale, but no dice.)Artist Ted Naifeh's designs for 'Ame-Comi Girls'
Now that DC Comics' upcoming digital Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray-scribed AME-COMI GIRLS has been announced, details have begun to leak out, including a look at some character designs by illustrator Ted Naifeh. Head over to COMIC BOOK RESOURCES to get a quick gander.
Coming soon: 'The DC Comics Art of Amanda Conner' HC
Apparently, folks just can't get enough of Amanda Conner's particular flavor of comics art. Not only is IDW issuing THE ART OF AMANDA CONNER in hardcover this coming Wednesday, DC Comics is also sating the public's appetite with the 304-page THE DC COMICS ART OF AMANDA CONNER, due out in hardcover this September. We'll be bringing you more details as they become available but for now, head here for a look at what's in it. Lots of good stuff! (Well, duh...)
Amanda Conner's C2E2 appearance spotlighted at the Chicago Tribune site

C2E2: Amanda Conner describes 'Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre' as "a little like a romance comic but with beatings" at DC All Access panel
This is the big one, kiddies. C2E2's DC All Access BEFORE WATCHMEN panel proved to be an avalanche of info and discussion of what's to come from that long-anticipated project, and as you gathered from Amanda's quote in the headline, it looks to be a dark ride. The panel is covered in depth over at CBR, so go here for all the fresh meat.
C2E2: Bleeding Cool's New 52 panel recap
We already posted a link to a recap of the New 52 panel but the devil's in the details, so go here to read an even more detailed rundown of the event, courtesy of good ol' BLEEDING COOL. (Our Jimmy has a few things to say, so there's also that.)C2E2: 'G.I. Combat' cited during the New 52 "Second Wave" panel
COMIC BOOK RESOURCES brings readers a detailed look at what DC Comics has in store for the second wave of their New 52 company-wide reboot, including G.I. COMBAT and its new version of the venerable UNKNOWN SOLDIER character/concept as handled by co-scripters Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, with art by Dan Panosian. Also discussed is an ALL-STAR WESTERN issue that ties into the whole Court of the Owls thing that's currently running in the Batman stories and that will be handled by Palmiotti & Gray, so click on the bright red CBR and pay attention to the debriefing.
More on DC Digital from Comics Alliance
More details on the upcoming DC Digital project are trickling out and of particular interest to readers of this blog will be the info on AME-COMI GIRLS, drawn by Paperfilms' Amanda Conner and written by the scripting team of Jimmy Palmiotti and Justing Gray (both also of Paperfilms, duh). The latest is to be found over at COMICS ALLIANCE, so put on your reading glasses and get cracking!C2E2: A detailed rundown of the DC Collectibles panel
A lot happened at today's DC Collectibles — formerly DC Direct — panel, some of it involving Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner, and a full recounting can be read right here, courtesy of THE OUTHOUSE. (I would have pulled quotes for use on this blog, but the account is fun enough to be read and enjoyed in total at its source page.)Friday, April 13, 2012
Digital 'Ame-Comi Girls' reunites Conner, Palmiotti and Gray

Popdecay outlines the C2E2 'Before Watchmen' showcase
C2E2 kicks off today and POPDECAY takes some time to outline Saturday's BEFORE WATCHMEN panel, featuring several comics biz luminaries including Paperfilms' Amanda Conner (who's drawing and co-writing the project's SILK SPECTRE mini, as if you didn't already know). Click here for the specifics.
The train that is 'Before Watchmen' keeps on a-rollin'

- THE BEAT has some very nice things to say about the upcoming BEFORE WATCHMEN project as a binder of art from it is shown to a meeting of distributors — and, sadly, not us — so head here to read the understandable (if a tad pre-cognative) gushing over what Darwyn Cooke and our Amanda Conner are getting up to with it.

Amanda Conner and 'Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre' key draws for C2E2

Check out Amanda Conner's cover for 'Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre' #2!
What you see above is just a detail from Amanda's cover for the upcoming BEFORE WATCHMEN: SILK SPECTRE #2, and you can see an exclusive first look at the full piece over at io9. It accompanies an interview with series scribe Darwyn Cooke — the mega-talented storyteller behind the multiple award-winning DC:THE NEW FRONTIER and the equally and desrvedly lauded PARKER adaptations — in which he answers the burning question of "How does one write Watchmen comics without Alan Moore?" An illuminating read, it also clues readers in on how Amanda penciling SILK SPECTRE was one of Darwyn's conditions for accepting the project. The man clearly has taste on top of talent!
